› Hello! My name is Yolanda and I'm Senior Healthcare Interoperability Specialist, currently based in Luzern, Switzerland.
› 7+ years advising organisations on digital health strategy, interoperability architecture, and regulatory compliance at companies like Roche, Fresenius Medical Care, and Dedalus.▌
Bridging clinical, technical, and regulatory domains. Multidisciplinary background in Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, and Web Engineering across several international companies.
Defining data flows and interoperability strategies at scale. Translating regulatory requirements into commercial value. European Health Data Space (EHDS) expert.
Translating clinical requirements into digital products across Oncology, Genetics, Dialysis, Diabetes, and Ophthalmology. Deep knowledge of HIS workflows from admission to medication and clinical reporting.
Deep expertise in HL7 FHIR R4/R5 and HL7 V2. Authored national Implementation Guides for Switzerland and Spain. HL7 FHIR® Proficient certified. Enterprise Service Bus integrations on InterSystems IRIS.
Seven Years Across Europe's Digital Health
Led FHIR requirements analysis for the Digisanté project Nasure, focusing on FHIR Structured Data Capture (SDC) and data-structure design for clinical pathogen reporting. Contributed to the matchbox open-source project. Specification and conceptual design of a nursing classification FHIR Implementation Guide (.NET, FHIR IG Publisher, FSH). Active participant in the HL7 FHIR CH Core working group.
Member of the Knowledge Engineering & Data Modeling team within the Diagnostics division. Shaped data models and interoperability standards across multiple product lines in the navify portfolio, applying FAIR principles and Data Mesh thinking to enable reusable, governed data services. Worked across clinical, product, engineering, and architecture stakeholders to align on data standards and drive adoption. Delivered FHIR Implementation Guides and reusable data model components as shared artefacts across product teams. Built team capability in FHIR-based data modeling to enable product independence. SAFe environment.
Sole owner of the national digital health interoperability strategy for 45+ dialysis clinics. Conducted stakeholder workshops with clinical directors and IT leads to assess integration opportunities with referral hospitals. Authored the interoperability requirements for upcoming procurement tenders. Managed external vendors and third-party contracts. Led the ENS security certification programme from zero to successful external audit (Royal Decree 311/2022) — passed on the first attempt. Translated both the interoperability strategy and the ENS certification into commercial value: contributed to pre-sales efforts by framing regulatory compliance and data connectivity capabilities as competitive differentiators in tender submissions.
Designed and implemented the FHIR interoperability layer for HCIS. Dedalus's hospital information system deployed across 10 major hospitals within SERMAS (Servicio Madrileño de Salud), including Hospital La Paz, Ramón y Cajal, Gregorio Marañón, and 12 de Octubre. Defined the generic FHIR interface specification for the Spanish market, translating clinical and regulatory requirements into reusable interoperability artefacts. Coordinated architecture and development teams. Enterprise Service Bus integrations on InterSystems IRIS HealthShare.
Defined and implemented the genetics product interoperability strategy. Led FHIR Implementation Guide design for Laboratory Information Systems and Hospital Information Systems. Built FHIR and HL7 V2 integrations in Java for ordering tests and generating interoperable reports.
Defined and implemented chronic disease management interoperability strategy for ASCAPE European Project and RESAMPLE European Project.
Technical lead for the VEMoS European project. Biophysical modeling, aberrometry, and Fourier-based spectral analysis. Full-stack development in Vue.js and Spring Framework.
Back-end development in Java (Spring Framework) and front-end in JavaScript (Sencha Ext.js) for a Pharmacy Information System.
