I had the opportunity two weeks ago to attend (unfortunately only for one afternoon) the BioTechX Europe conference in Basel. Apparently, it takes place annually and is hosted in the Swiss city. I’m very lucky to work close by, so I dropped in!
The truth is that I was impressed by the number of suppliers and the organization of the conference; you can arrange quick meetings with attendees via a mobile application. It’s a great place to connect and meet super interesting people 🙂
I attended talks related to knowledge graphs and FAIR data, very much connected to the super trending topic of generative artificial intelligence. Also one about the new EU data regulations. As always, you are left wanting to know more in depth, but I think that is also a good thing for continuing to investigate on your own afterwards.
I also found the start-up area very interesting, and although it sometimes strayed far from my spectrum of knowledge, it was all more focused on pharma and biotechnology than on the purely clinical field. But it never hurts to understand how the same technology is applied to different fields.
My conclusion is that, even if a conference doesn’t exactly cover your area of expertise and if you are new to this series of events like I am, don’t hesitate to attend because you always leave with information and good connections for the future.
(I leave you with these two fantastic photos, the one I liked the most was the stairs with the conference colors, it looked like you were going to another planet )
